OHE Safety Advisory – Preventing OHE Parting

Preventive measures to avoid OHE parting at Section Insulator,
Overlaps & Neutral Sections.
Incident: On 28.09.2026 at 22:05 hrs, contact wire parted near the trailing grip of a Section Insulator at 398/1003, Line No. 6, BSPX Yard (CKP Division).
During attachment of a loco with a stabled rake, the pantograph was positioned under the Section Insulator assembly. After cab changing, energisation caused the pantograph to bridge two different electrical sections (4620 & X-153), resulting in heavy flashing and subsequent contact-wire parting.
⚠️ Important Safety Instructions
- Do not keep locomotives under IOL/Section Insulator/Overlaps/Neutral Sections.
- LP/ALP/Shunters must be periodically counselled (half-yearly).
- Exercise extra caution while working on loop lines, yards and sidings.
- Ensure the pantograph is not positioned beneath an electrical separation point before energising.
